Event Overview
The Capital Athletics Open and Under 20s 5000m Championships will bring together some of the ACT’s finest endurance athletes as they contest the coveted 5000m title over 12 and a half laps of the track. This prestigious championship provides both emerging and established distance runners with the chance to test themselves against high-calibre competition.
With honours at stake, the race promises fast times, tactical racing, and a vibrant atmosphere for athletes and spectators alike. Whether striving for personal bests, state recognition, or valuable championship experience, this event is one not to be missed.
Entry Information
- Entry: Entries for all Summer Series meets will be accepted online in advance
- Entries Close: Wednesday 11th February 9:00pm
- Entry Fee: Entry fees are $30 for online entry there will be no late or on the day entries
- Eligibility: Athletes must be registered with Capital Athletics, another state/territory athletics body affiliated with Australian Athletics, or an overseas federation affiliated with World Athletics.
- Age Eligibility: Athletes must be at least 16 years old by 31 December, with minimum age requirement applying for specific events; refer to the Technical Regulations for full eligibility details.
Athlete Information
- Check-In Process: All athletes must check in for each event at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time at the designated check-in area.
- Uniform Requirements: Athletes must compete in their club uniform, during check in you will recieve a competition bib
- Warm-Up Areas:Warm-up will be permitted on the back straight between events; please be mindful of track usage and respectful of fellow competitors at all times.
- Shoe Regulations:World Athletics regulations for athletic shoes will only be enforced for World Ranking events. Shoes can be checked for compliance here.
- Facilities: Toilets, change rooms, first aid available onsite
- Parking & Access:Parking for the AIS Track and Field Centre is available in the car park adjacent to the facility, located at the end of Battye Street in front of Canberra Stadium. The venue is fully accessible, with appropriate seating, restrooms, and pathways for all attendees.
