The Level 2 Development Coach Course is the entry point into the formal coaching pathway for track and field. It is designed for coaches working with athletes aged 12 years and older and provides a strong foundation in coaching practice.

The course focuses on the fundamental technical models for track and field events commonly contested at club and school-level competitions. In addition, coaches are introduced to key training principles, components of fitness, and the planning, delivery, and evaluation of training sessions appropriate for intermediate-level athletes.

Course Details:

Cost for the Level 2 Development Coach Course: $337.24

Course Times:

  • Saturday 14th March 2026 - 9am to 5pm, be there by 8.45am
  • Sunday 15th March 2026 - 9am to 5pm

Pre-Course Work:

It is recommended to complete the Level 2 Development Coach online modules before the face-to-face component.

Post-Course Work:

Earn 25 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Points in Performance Health Elective modules.

Complete a seasonal plan.

Complete the practical coaching assessment.

Pre-Requisites:

Age: Must be 16 or older to get your badge. That's it! No special skills or prior knowledge needed!

 


The Level 2 Development Coach accreditation is designed for coaches interested in working with athletes aged 12+ years old, and/or want to be involved in the Introduction to Training and Training I (General) stages of development (outlined in Athletics Australia’s Training and Competition Guidelines for Children and Adults).

This course teaches coaches the basic technical models of the Track and Field events held at club and school level competitions, in addition to general training principles for coaching intermediate level athletes.
