Annual Report 2025/2026 - Celebrating A Strong Year
Published Wed 26 Aug 2026
Capital Athletics held its Annual General Meeting on Saturday 22 August, with Voting Members presented with the Capital Athletics Annual Report for 2025–26.
The report celebrates another significant year for our athletics community. More than 4,100 members participated across our sport, with Capital Athletics delivering 29 events and recording more than 8,200 sanctioned event entries. A total of 225 athletes represented the ACT at national competitions, winning 69 medals, while renewed education opportunities supported the development of coaches and officials across our community. Capital Athletics also recorded its first surplus, further demonstrating its maturity and financial stability.
Board elections were also held at the meeting. James Lennane was re-elected as President for a further two-year term. Paul Carr was re-elected as a Director for two years, while Ken Gibson was newly elected to the Board for a two-year term.
Karen Billington did not renominate for her position and concluded her service on the Board following the AGM. The Board extends its sincere thanks to Karen for her commitment and support as both a Director and Chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee. Karen has made an invaluable contribution to Capital Athletics and has helped leave the Association in a stronger position. Her knowledge, experience and considered approach have been greatly valued.
We are fortunate to have a skilled and experienced group of Directors guiding Capital Athletics. The Board is excited about the year ahead and remains committed to supporting our clubs, strengthening opportunities across every level of the sport and continuing to move athletics in the ACT and surrounding region forward.
The achievements celebrated in the Annual Report belong to our entire community. Thank you to every athlete, coach, official, volunteer, club committee member, parent, carer and supporter who contributed during 2025–26. We look forward to building on this momentum together throughout the coming year.
